My Experience in Forest Management

Forestry Technician-Shultz Forest Management and Consulting, LLC

Summer 2017

This position taught me a lot about timber cruising, conducting timber sales, mapping, herbicide application, and much more. I really liked working for clients and hearing what good jobs we did. It feels good to make a difference in the lives of good people.

Forestry Technician - Penn State Deer Study

Summer 2016

Working on the Penn State Deer Study, we did a lot of vegetation sampling, soil sampling, and overall analysis of many remote areas of Pennsylvania State Forest Land. This job taught me a lot about forest sampling, species identification, mapping, data analysis, and just a lot of general skills which I have found useful in the field.

Forest Ecosystem Management

Fall 2014- Present

I am a senior in Forest Ecosystem Management at Penn State. My classes here have taught me a lot about the science behind forestry, and how to properly manage our ecosystems. I believe that this degree has adequately prepared me for working in the field upon graduation.
